Our Governors
The Governing Body of St John Fisher Catholic Primary School plays a vital role in supporting the strategic leadership and continued development of our school. Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders, governors help ensure that every child receives the very best education within a caring, ambitious, and faith-filled environment.
As a Catholic school, our governors are committed to supporting the mission and values that shape life at St John Fisher:
“We stand united in faith with the courage to build a loving world of truth, justice, peace and wisdom.”
Governors work in partnership with school leaders to uphold our Catholic ethos, maintain high standards, and ensure that all children are supported to flourish academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
What Do Governors Do?
The role of the Governing Body is strategic rather than operational. Governors work to:
- Support and challenge school leaders to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils
- Help shape the strategic direction of the school, including its vision and priorities
- Monitor educational standards and pupil outcomes
- Ensure financial accountability and effective use of resources
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all pupils and staff
- Preserve and strengthen the Catholic life and distinctive character of the school
Governors regularly visit the school, meet with leaders, and review key aspects of school improvement to ensure children receive a high-quality education and positive school experience.
Our Commitment
At St John Fisher, we are fortunate to have a committed Governing Body made up of individuals who bring a wide range of skills, knowledge, and experience to their role. United by a shared commitment to our children, community, and Catholic values, governors work hard to support the continued success and development of our school.
We value the strong partnership between governors, school leaders, staff, parents, parish, and the wider community, recognising that children achieve their very best when we work together.
